Thread for Making Cornhole Bags

Which Type of Thread to Use?

  • Most bag makers seem to use a heavy-duty upholstery thread for their bags. Something like a #69 thread. Personally, when I'm doing the sewing, I use a thread you can find at any Jo-Annes fabrics or craft store. The brand is Gutermann. It's 100% polyester, 30 m, and is found in the "heavy duty" section. ~Milky

  • I usually use machine quilting thread. it is pretty strong and if you double stitch like you're supposed to, you shouldn't have a problem. the next step above that is upholstery thread which is extremely strong but is very stiff and hard to work with. ~cheeks
